Medina interior painting for homes with real millwork

Interior painting in Medina often means more trim than wall: custom cabinetry, wainscoting, coffered ceilings, built-ins and long runs of stained woodwork. That's the work Steve Greene Painting is built around. We spray enamel on cabinets and built-ins, cut trim lines by hand, and refinish stained wood instead of covering it when it's worth keeping. We're based in Rockford, just west on Highway 55, rated 5 stars on Google, and the estimate is free.

Medina is mostly larger lots and custom or semi-custom homes, from the Hamel area along Highway 55 out toward Lake Independence and Baker Park Reserve. Homes like these were usually finished well, which raises the bar for repainting them. A new coat of enamel on a coffered ceiling or a set of built-ins has to match the quality of the original millwork, and a stain refinish has to look like the wood, not like a cover-up. We'll tell you what we recommend for each surface during the estimate.

How It Works

From Estimate to Final Walk-Through

No handoffs and no surprise scope changes. Here's how a Medina job runs.

  1. 01

    Free In-Person Estimate

Steve looks at the actual surfaces in your Medina home, points out anything that will affect the finish, and gives you a clear scope before you commit.

  2. 02

    Prep, Then Paint

Patching, sanding, cleaning and priming come first. Floors and furniture get covered, and anything not being painted gets masked.

  3. 03

    Walk-Through and Cleanup

We clean up, then walk the finished work with you in good light. If something isn't right, it gets fixed before we leave.

Detail Work Takes Longer, and It Should

On a home with a lot of millwork, most of the time goes into prep and cutting in, not rolling walls. Every joint in a coffered ceiling, every edge of a wainscot panel and every built-in face frame gets caulked, sanded and cut by hand. That's slower than a production crew, and it's the reason the finish looks like it belongs to the house. Our Google reviewers point to the same thing: attention to detail and a clean house at the end.

Steve + Team did a phenomenal job painting all 4400 sq ft interior painting while we were on vacation for a week, even finishing the job early! They fixed drywall errors (of which I was oblivious prior to him pointing out the flaws in the initial quote), touched up the enamel/molding, and did a beautiful job beyond our expectations even cleaning up so well after themselves. We were beyond impressed and would absolutely hire them again and recommend others do the same!

On my main level, Steve painted my oak kitchen cabinets, fixed my ceiling and then resprayed the entire ceiling. I added on to the project and had the downstairs painted. Steve and his team did a great job. I was impressed with the responsiveness and attention to detail. I couldn’t be happier with the results and would definitely recommend!

Our wooden window sills/frames needed some repair, and we hired Steve and his team to re-stain and varnish all the window frames in our house. I can't believe the difference. Many of them were faded and some looked like the wood was starting to rot. After Steve and his team were here, they look completely different. They did a great job, and I would definitely hire them again. Steve is very knowledgeable and takes the time to explain his process.

We hired Steve to white enamel our main level cabinets, molding and stairwell which initially were oak. The finished product was beautiful and he did such an exceptional job that we additionally had him paint our ceiling and walls. Steve is extremely knowledgeable, reliable and easy to work with. He is committed to providing high quality services at reasonable costs. We will definitely be using him again for future projects!

Frequently asked questions

Do you work in Medina, MN?
Yes. Medina is a short drive east of our Rockford base on Highway 55, and it's well inside our service area. That includes the Hamel area and homes out toward Lake Independence.
Can you refinish stained woodwork instead of painting it?
Yes, when the wood and the existing finish are in reasonable shape. We clean, scuff sand and re-coat, and repair worn spots so they blend in. If the wood has been damaged or patched too heavily to look good natural, we'll say so. See our stain and varnish work page for details.
Do you paint coffered ceilings and built-ins?
Yes. Coffered ceilings, wainscoting and built-ins are some of the most detailed work we do. Every joint gets caulked and every edge sanded before the enamel goes on, and the lines are cut by hand. Our molding painting page covers the process.
How do you protect floors and finishes in a finished home?
Floors get covered, furniture gets moved and covered, and anything that isn't being painted gets masked before any spraying. The work area is cleaned up as we go, and at the end we walk the job with you. One reviewer noted how well the crew cleaned up after themselves, and that's the standard on every job.
How do I get a price for my Medina project?
Call (763) 228-5544 or send the estimate form. Steve will walk the house with you and give you a clear scope before anything is scheduled.
