Interior Painting Wayzata Homeowners Actually Call Back For

If you're searching for a painter in Wayzata who'll handle the finish work that most contractors quietly skip, Steve Greene Painting is the call worth making. We specialize in cabinet enamel, precise trim and molding painting, and water-damaged ceiling restoration, the kind of detail work that shows the moment a job is done. Our Google rating sits at 5 stars across every review we've received, and we back every estimate with a straight conversation about what's actually needed, not what upsells the job. Call us before you schedule anyone else.

We're based out of Rockford, MN, which puts Wayzata well within our regular service area. The homes along Lake Minnetonka and throughout the Wayzata corridor tend to be well-maintained and high-expectation, owners here notice when trim corners aren't crisp and when cabinet doors don't hang with a factory-level finish. That matches exactly what we do. We're also close enough to respond quickly, and yes, we're available weekends if that's when your schedule opens up.

What Wayzata Homes Actually Need

01

Cabinet Enamel

We spray-convert oak and previously varnished cabinets into a clean, high-grade enamel finish. It's the single most impactful interior upgrade short of a full remodel, and we do it right.

02

Wall and Ceiling Painting

Full interior painting with proper prep, not shortcuts. Every surface gets the attention it needs before a brush or roller touches it.

03

Trim and Molding Work

Clean lines on trim, doors, and architectural molding. This is where most painters show their skill level, and where we separate ourselves from the crews that rush it.

04

Water-Damaged Ceiling Restoration

We assess, treat, and restore ceilings that have taken on water damage. Painting over a stain without addressing what's underneath is a short-term fix we won't sell you.

05

Popcorn Texture Removal

Common in older Wayzata-area homes and worth removing before any ceiling repaint. We handle the mess containment and leave a smooth surface ready for the next step.

06

Wood Finishing

Window frame staining, stain and varnish work on woodwork throughout the home. One of our reviewers had every window frame in the house re-stained and called the result unrecognizable from the faded wood they started with.

Our Process

How a Wayzata Job Gets Started

We keep the intake process simple. No lengthy questionnaires, no chasing a callback for a week.

  1. 01

    Call for an Estimate

Tell us what you're working with: the rooms, the surfaces, any damage or existing finishes. We'll have a real conversation about scope before anyone drives out.

  2. 02

    We Assess and Quote

We look at the job in person, flag anything that needs attention before painting starts (drywall issues, water stains, surface prep gaps), and give you a straight number.

  3. 03

    We Do the Work

The team that quoted you is the team that shows up. We've completed jobs as large as 4,400 square feet of interior painting while owners were away, and finished early.

The Finish Work Most Painters Won't Touch

Cabinet enamel is where we get the most calls from Wayzata homeowners, and for good reason. Kitchens with oak cabinets that haven't been touched in twenty years look like a completely different space after a proper spray conversion to white enamel. We don't brush it on and call it close enough. We prep, prime, and spray for the kind of finish that doesn't show brush marks when the sun hits the door at the wrong angle. One of our customers hired us to enamel the main level cabinets, molding, and stairwell, then added the ceiling and walls to the project after seeing the cabinet work. That's how these jobs tend to go. If you want the same for your Wayzata kitchen, the first step is a phone call. We won't push you toward more than the job needs, and we'll tell you plainly if something isn't worth doing.

Steve + Team did a phenomenal job painting all 4400 sq ft interior painting while we were on vacation for a week, even finishing the job early! They fixed drywall errors (of which I was oblivious prior to him pointing out the flaws in the initial quote), touched up the enamel/molding, and did a beautiful job beyond our expectations even cleaning up so well after themselves. We were beyond impressed and would absolutely hire them again and recommend others do the same!

On my main level, Steve painted my oak kitchen cabinets, fixed my ceiling and then resprayed the entire ceiling. I added on to the project and had the downstairs painted. Steve and his team did a great job. I was impressed with the responsiveness and attention to detail. I couldn’t be happier with the results and would definitely recommend!

Our wooden window sills/frames needed some repair, and we hired Steve and his team to re-stain and varnish all the window frames in our house. I can't believe the difference. Many of them were faded and some looked like the wood was starting to rot. After Steve and his team were here, they look completely different. They did a great job, and I would definitely hire them again. Steve is very knowledgeable and takes the time to explain his process.

We hired Steve to white enamel our main level cabinets, molding and stairwell which initially were oak. The finished product was beautiful and he did such an exceptional job that we additionally had him paint our ceiling and walls. Steve is extremely knowledgeable, reliable and easy to work with. He is committed to providing high quality services at reasonable costs. We will definitely be using him again for future projects!

Cabinet enamel, trim work, ceiling restoration, or a full interior repaint. Call for a free estimate and we'll tell you exactly what we'd do and why.

Frequently asked questions

Do you paint cabinets in older Wayzata homes with original oak finishes?
Yes, and it's some of the most common work we do near Wayzata. Oak cabinets from the 1980s and 1990s are everywhere in this area, and they respond well to a proper spray enamel conversion when the prep work is done right. We clean, degloss, prime, and spray for a factory-level finish. The difference is significant enough that several clients have extended the scope of the job mid-project after seeing the cabinet work.
How far is Steve Greene Painting from Wayzata?
We're based in Rockford, MN, which is roughly 25 miles west of Wayzata. We're in the western Twin Cities metro regularly and work throughout the Wayzata corridor. Distance isn't a barrier for a free estimate conversation or for scheduling work. We also serve neighboring communities like Minnetonka, Plymouth, and Maple Grove on a consistent basis.
Can you restore a water-damaged ceiling in a Wayzata home, or do you just paint over it?
We don't paint over active or untreated water damage. That's a short-term fix that fails within a season. For Wayzata homeowners dealing with ceiling stains or texture damage from a roof leak or plumbing issue, we assess what's there first. If the source has been addressed and the surface is stable, we treat the stain, restore the texture if needed, and repaint. Our water-damaged ceiling restoration page covers what the process actually involves.
Wayzata homes near the lake tend to have older woodwork. Do you handle stain and varnish work on window frames?
We do, and it's a service most painters won't take on. Window frames and sills that have faded, checked, or started to look like the wood is deteriorating can often be brought back fully with proper prep, stain, and varnish work. One of our clients had every window frame in their home re-stained, and the result was dramatic enough that they said the frames looked completely different. We explain the process before we start so there are no surprises. See our woodwork staining service for more detail.
What's the process for getting a painting estimate for a Wayzata interior project?
Call us or submit the estimate form on this page. We'll talk through what you're working with: the rooms, the surfaces, any damage or existing finishes that need attention. From there we'll schedule an in-person look if the scope warrants it. We flag issues during the estimate that other painters miss or don't mention, like drywall flaws and surface prep gaps. We respond within one business day and we're available weekends. Every project gets a clear scope and a straight number.
Do you do popcorn ceiling removal in Wayzata, and what happens after it comes off?
Yes. Popcorn texture is common in Wayzata-area homes built in the 1970s through the early 1990s, and many homeowners want it gone before repainting. We handle the removal with proper mess containment and leave the ceiling surface ready for the next step, whether that's a skim coat, a smooth repaint, or a new texture. We don't remove it and leave you with raw drywall to figure out. The popcorn texture removal page explains what to expect.
