Interior Painting Plymouth Homeowners Actually Notice

Painting Plymouth homes is a different conversation than roll-and-go wall color. Plymouth homeowners tend to be renovating kitchens without gutting them, dealing with water-stained ceilings from old ice dams, and finishing trim and cabinets that were built to look good for decades. That's the work Steve Greene Painting does best. We're based out of Rockford, MN, and we carry a 5-star rating across every Google review we've earned. Call for a free estimate and you'll have a real answer same day.

Plymouth sits about 25 minutes east of Rockford, and we work in the area regularly. The housing stock here runs heavily toward 1990s and early 2000s construction, which means plenty of original oak cabinetry that homeowners want painted white or in a modern enamel finish, and a fair number of textured ceilings that didn't age as well as the rest of the house. We know what these homes need because we see them constantly. When you call, you're talking to Steve, not a scheduler.

Cabinet Enamel in Plymouth Cabinet Enamel

Converting oak cabinets to a sprayed enamel finish is the highest-impact interior upgrade most Plymouth kitchens can get.

A lot of Plymouth homes were built with honey oak or natural wood cabinetry that looks dated now. Full cabinet replacement runs well into the five figures. A professional cabinet enamel job gets you a factory-smooth finish on your existing boxes and doors for a fraction of that cost. We spray, not brush. The difference is visible every time you open a cabinet door. We prep meticulously, which means sanding, degreasing, and priming before a drop of topcoat goes on. Shortcuts in prep are exactly why DIY cabinet paint jobs peel within a year. Ours don't.

What We Do

Interior Services Available in Plymouth

01

Cabinet Enamel

Spray-applied enamel over existing cabinet boxes and doors. Oak, maple, or previously varnished wood converted to a hard, smooth finish in the color you choose.

02

Trim Enamel

Baseboards, door casings, window trim, and architectural molding painted in trim enamel that holds clean lines without telegraphing every brush stroke.

03

Popcorn Texture Removal

Older Plymouth homes with popcorn texture on ceilings can get a smooth or knockdown finish. We contain the mess and leave the ceiling ready to paint.

04

Wood Staining and Varnish

Window frames, stair railings, and woodwork that needs stain and varnish work rather than paint. We restore faded wood or take it in a new direction.

Water-Damaged Ceilings Are a Specialty, Not a Sideline

Plymouth homes built in the 1990s dealt with a lot of ice dam damage over the years, and some of those ceilings were painted over without fixing the underlying stain properly. Brown rings bleed through standard ceiling paint every time. We address water-stained ceilings by treating the stain with the right primer before any topcoat goes on. If the drywall is compromised, we handle drywall repair before we ever pick up a roller. Painting over a problem and hoping it disappears is not how we work.

Steve + Team did a phenomenal job painting all 4400 sq ft interior painting while we were on vacation for a week, even finishing the job early! They fixed drywall errors (of which I was oblivious prior to him pointing out the flaws in the initial quote), touched up the enamel/molding, and did a beautiful job beyond our expectations even cleaning up so well after themselves. We were beyond impressed and would absolutely hire them again and recommend others do the same!

On my main level, Steve painted my oak kitchen cabinets, fixed my ceiling and then resprayed the entire ceiling. I added on to the project and had the downstairs painted. Steve and his team did a great job. I was impressed with the responsiveness and attention to detail. I couldn’t be happier with the results and would definitely recommend!

Our wooden window sills/frames needed some repair, and we hired Steve and his team to re-stain and varnish all the window frames in our house. I can't believe the difference. Many of them were faded and some looked like the wood was starting to rot. After Steve and his team were here, they look completely different. They did a great job, and I would definitely hire them again. Steve is very knowledgeable and takes the time to explain his process.

We hired Steve to white enamel our main level cabinets, molding and stairwell which initially were oak. The finished product was beautiful and he did such an exceptional job that we additionally had him paint our ceiling and walls. Steve is extremely knowledgeable, reliable and easy to work with. He is committed to providing high quality services at reasonable costs. We will definitely be using him again for future projects!

Frequently asked questions

Do you paint cabinets in Plymouth homes that already have a varnish on them?
Yes, and it's actually the most common cabinet situation we see in Plymouth. Homes built in the 1990s typically have factory-varnished oak that hasn't been repainted. Converting those requires sanding, a proper bonding primer, and a spray-applied enamel topcoat. Brush-and-roll over existing varnish fails fast. We've refinished plenty of these kitchens in the west metro, and the process is well established. Every job is different. Contact Steve Greene Painting for an accurate estimate.
How long does cabinet enamel work take in a typical Plymouth kitchen?
A standard Plymouth kitchen with upper and lower cabinets typically takes three to five days from prep through final topcoat, depending on the number of doors, drawer fronts, and whether we're also doing the frames. We remove doors and spray them separately for a factory-smooth result. You'll have limited kitchen access during the job, but we plan the work to minimize that window. Every job is different. Contact Steve Greene Painting for an accurate estimate specific to your kitchen.
Can you fix a water-stained ceiling in Plymouth before painting over it?
That's exactly what we do, and it matters a lot. A standard ceiling paint rolled over a water stain will bleed through within months, sometimes sooner. We use a stain-blocking primer rated for water damage before any topcoat goes on. If the drywall itself is soft or bubbled from moisture intrusion, we repair that first. Plymouth homes that dealt with ice dams in previous winters often have this issue in exterior-wall corners or under roof valleys. We'll tell you what we find when we look at it.
Do you remove popcorn texture from ceilings in Plymouth?
We do. Popcorn texture was common in Plymouth homes built through the 1980s and into the early 1990s, and a lot of homeowners want it gone before they repaint. We wet the surface, scrape, and skim or sand to a smooth or knockdown finish depending on what you want underneath the paint. We contain the mess with plastic sheeting. Homes built before 1978 need a test for asbestos before any removal work starts, and we'll flag that during the estimate if it applies to your home.
Does Steve Greene Painting handle window frame staining in Plymouth?
Yes. Window frame and sill staining is a specialty we get called for throughout the Plymouth and west metro area. Older wood frames fade, check, or start to look weathered even on the interior side. We've restored frames that looked like they were past saving. The process involves light sanding, wood conditioning if the grain has dried out, and a stain and varnish finish that protects and restores the color. You can see exactly what that looks like in the review from Lorrie Labofsky on our Google profile.
Do you work in specific Plymouth neighborhoods, or across the whole city?
We take jobs throughout Plymouth, from Wayzata Boulevard north to the 55 corridor and west toward Medina. Plymouth is about 25 minutes from our Rockford base, so we're in the area regularly and not adding a long travel surcharge. We also work in neighboring Minnetonka, Maple Grove, and Brooklyn Park if your project spans more than one address or you're referring a neighbor.
