Our wooden window sills/frames needed some repair, and we hired Steve and his team to re-stain and varnish all the window frames in our house. I can't believe the difference. Yes, and this is one of the most common projects I take in the northwest metro. Oak cabinets and trim have a pronounced grain that bleeds through paint if the surface isn't properly sealed and primed. I spray a hard enamel finish that bonds to the wood correctly. Melody Koerselman had me convert oak cabinets, molding, and a stairwell to white enamel. The finished product held up and she had me come back for additional work.
My Crystal home has a popcorn ceiling from the 1970s. How does removal work?
I wet the texture to loosen it, scrape it down, and assess the ceiling surface underneath. Older Crystal ramblers sometimes have tape seams or minor damage that shows once the texture is off, so I address that before painting. After removal, the ceiling can be painted smooth or finished with a light knockdown texture if you prefer some dimension. Every job gets scoped individually because the condition underneath varies. It depends on the source of the leak. If the leak is already repaired and the ceiling is structurally sound, I can handle the restoration. That means sealing the stain correctly so it doesn't bleed through new paint, addressing any soft spots in the drywall, and repainting the affected area so it matches the rest of the ceiling. I don't paint over active moisture problems. If the source isn't fixed, the stain will return no matter how good the paint is. I'll tell you that upfront.
